Brian Olsen - Owner / Head Instructor

 

Coach Olsen started out as a wrestler in 7th grade after getting tired of participating in team sports. He wanted to compete in a sport where he only had to rely on himself to succeed. In high school he competed at Bacon Academy in Colchester, CT where he finished his career with a 102-28 record. He won the Class S State Championship twice and took 2nd place at the Connecticut State Open Championship. He continued his career for the Division I Cental CT State University Blue Devils under Coach DeStefanis. He became the varsity starter at 190 pounds his sophomore year and earned 13 wins that year. After red-shirting the following year to prepare for the move to heavyweight, the school dropped the successful program to meet Title IX requirements.

 

After a seven year layoff from competitive sports, he began training in MMA under Darryl MarcAurele for Team Strikezone in New London, CT. He quickly took to the sport and won the World Extreme Cagefighting Heavyweight Title and the Reality Fighting Heavyweight Title. After moving north, he joined up with Team Link in Ludlow, MA to improve his ground game. On May 9, 2008 he won his third title by claiming the Super Cruiserweight Title for the United States Fight League raising his professional MMA record to 9 wins and 1 loss. He has also won the NAGA New England Cruiserweight Advanced No-Gi Masters and Adult Division Championships.

 

Coach Olsen has now decided to focus on training MMA fighters and has opened this facility to provide the best training environment for fighters in the Hartford area. He has also decided to go back to his roots and train wrestlers in folkstyle wrestling. In the past, Coach Olsen was an assistant wrestler coach under Head Coach Ernie Goodwin for Glastonbury High School where he helped coach numerous Class and State Open Champions. He is also looking to develop the first grappling club for kids. Hopefully some wrestlers will make the transition to submission wrestling to complete their quest in becoming the ultimate grappler.

 

 

Frank Rivera - Judo Instructor

 

Frank is now teaching Judo classes on Monday nights. He is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Judo.
